Bananarama:)

Sometimes, life takes unexpected turns. Today, I had not anticipated any friday night plans, but my friend Alexa invited herself over. We ended up making cupcakes, which we had not planned on. The computer was blasting Ke$ha and Lady Gaga, and the recipe was whipped up to the beat of Bad Romance.
The creation was banana-butterscotch cupcakes. The recipe is:
1 1/4 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
6 tablespoons butter
1 cup sugar
2 bananas
2 large eggs
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 cup milk
1 cup butterscotch chips

We also made up a frosting recipe, and covered it with brown sugar.
They were delicious; when we took the paper holders off, the cupcakes just melted and gave us a much needed sugar rush.
Basically, these cupcakes were bananas, b-a-n-a-n-a-s.(please, hollaback girl)
Wonderful batch :) ps. the picture is alexa, not me!

Feedback:)

I have gotten very positive feedback, both about my blog and my cupcakes.
The cupcakes were described as 'freaking amazing', and many other fantastic ways.
I'm off to a great start, and can't wait for the next batch!
Today, I bought a shnazzy cupcake transport container. It's pretty cool, I have to say, I feel rather pro :) keep an eye out for the next post! I appreciate the feedback I've gotten!

My first batch!

Hello:)
Today I decided to bake my first batch. Before I started, a few questions popped into my head.
1.How am I going to eat all these cupcakes and stay in shape?
2.What will I do with them?
The answer to 1 was solved when I was running back and forth from my work station to the pantry and realized I was getting a workout. This is enough to satisfy the question.
The answer to 2 is to give the cupcakes away. Some lucky people at school tomorrow will be receiving cupcakes.

The recipe I used today is called kid-simple cupcakes, by Elinor Klivans. It goes as follows:
1 1/4 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 large egg
1 large egg yolk
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup canola oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cup sour cream

I also made frosting:
1/2 cup butter
3 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3-4 teaspoons milk
and I added orange zest for flavor

All of the ingredients I used were organic! Pretty shnazzy:) They tasted really good too!

Here's the deal:

I don't know how many of you have seen or read Julie&Julia by Julie Powell, but it is a very good story. Julie cooks through a whole cookbook of Julia Child's, and blogs about it as she goes.
I do not cook.
I bake.
I love cupcakes. So today I decided I was going to make a cupcake blog. I honestly don't know who the heck would read this, but maybe someone will.
I'm starting off with a deck of 25 cupcake recipes. I'll start sometime this week.
My mom was the one who suggested I blog, and I said, "sure why not." So here I am.
I suppose I'll let you know when I start.
:)
